Michael McBroom on The Morning Swim Show

July 12, 2013: Michael McBroom, a member of the USA roster attending the world championships later this month, joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show. McBroom found his way onto the team by virtue of two second-place finishes in the 800 and 1500 freestyles at the USA Swimming nationals, the latter of which marked his first time under the 15-minute barrier. He talks about how a strong mental focus helped him push through the barrier and how long he’s had that time as a goal. He also talks about racing Connor Jaeger, and how the competition isn’t really viewed as a rivalry, but a way for the two to get stronger and boost American distance freestyle swimming. He also discusses his excitement about starting his life as a postgraduate swimmer and what makes him anticipate the next three years in the sport.
