July 25, 2013: Today's edition of The Morning Swim Show takes us to Portland, Ore., where Jody Braden is working to make his swimmers at the Portland Aquatic Club the best they can be while still having fun. Click here to watch yesterday’s show featuring Matt Baxter of the Portland Porpoises in Maine. Braden, a former member of the USA Swimming national team, talks about his philosophy of making sure his swimmers know that they should enjoy every race, every workout and every moment with friends, harking back to a conversation he had with David Marsh at the 1991 Pan American Games. Braden, a native of Washington state, said the goal of the teams in the Northwest is to make the rest of the country know that “we do more than drink coffee,” and that includes taking several swimmers to the U.S. Open and junior national championships next week.
