July 24, 2013: We resume our special coast-to-coast series of interviews with swimming coaches doing great things on opposite sides of the United States on today's edition of The Morning Swim Show with a conversation with Portland Porpoises head coach Matt Baxter from Maine. Baxter has been head coach for the team for five years, and he talks about the circumstances that led him to Maine. He also talks about one of his top swimmers, Eric DelMonte, who qualified for the junior national championships. The team’s most prestigious alumnus is Olympian Ian Crocker, who Baxter did not coach but had the opportunity to meet recently when Crocker visited Portland for a clinic. Baxter talks about the impact Crocker’s success has made on the current team, as well as how he’s able to make the most out of Maine’s lack of a 50-meter pool for training or competition.
