March 1, 2013: It takes months, maybe years, of hard work and determination for a dream to happen, and that is exemplified by the Germantown Academy’s and The Peddie School’s 400 freestyle relay teams, and on today's edition of The Morning Swim Show we hear from these swimmers on their barrier-breaking performances from the Eastern Interscholastic swimming and diving championships. Up first in today’s show is the squad of Shannon McKernan, Meagan Dollard, Madison Visco and Rachel Zilinskas from the Germantown Academy. They talk about when the goal of breaking the national high school record became a reality and the emotions they felt during their swims in the relay. They also talk about beating the former record, which was held by a Germantown team and how they are upholding the school’s rich tradition. The team of Patrick Park, Bradley Cline, Josh Daniel and Michael Nunan from The Peddie School became just the sixth high school team to break the 3:00 barrier in the 400 free relay, and they discuss the long-term goal of getting under that barrier and how the pursuit of the goal brought them together as a team. The four tied the meet record that had been set in 1991, and they discuss the feeling of equaling a revered swim.
