May 24, 2013: Olympic and world champion Cesar Cielo is visiting Arizona for a brief training trip before heading to the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara, and he sat down with Swimming World’s Shoshanna Rutemiller for today's edition of The Morning Swim Show. Cielo talks about the reasons for coming to Arizona for training, as well as how his knees are holding up about seven months after having surgery to decrease inflammation. With portions of training not going well post-surgery, Cielo said he was surprised by his performances at the Brazilian world trials, swims that give him the chance to defend his world titles in the 50 fly and 50 free. Cielo has been working with former Auburn teammate Scott Goodrich for a little less than a year, and Cielo talks about their working relationship, which includes occasional visits to work with Brett Hawke at their alma mater. Next week’s competition at the Grand Prix meet will be a prime test for Cielo to see how well his knees are healing, though he also plans to race in France as well before final prep for the world championships.
