May 13, 2013: On today's edition of The Morning Swim Show recently graduated Texas A&M swimmer Amini Fonua talks about his life as an openly gay swimmer at the university and how a recent national poll claiming the school is one of the least-friendly to gays is untrue. Fonua came to Texas A&M from New Zealand, where he grew up and learned to swim. He was openly gay as a teenager and came out to his teammates in College Station. He said he received nothing but kind and supportive words from his teammates during his entire collegiate career, and he said it was because his teammates cared mostly about his swimming performance and not his sexuality. He also talks about the atmosphere of being a gay swimmer in the United States and why he is happy to have chosen the country to continue his education.
