Stanford’s Simone Manuel has continued her reign as sprint queen throughout her first college season. Her teammates, coaches and the swimming world may not articulate what her performances forebode, but everyone anticipates greatness from the freshman at her first NCAAs to be held later this month in Greensboro, N.C. “My parents always say ‘DYB’ before my races,” says Simone. The acronym stands for DO YOUR BEST. She adds, “Whether my best is good or bad, it’s all anyone can ask for.” (See story, page 16, and related story, page 20.)
