ZUMO Performance of the Week: Huske Blasts New Public High School Record In 100 Fly
This week’s ZUMO Performance of the Week goes to Victoria “Torri” Huske for her new national public high school record in the 100 fly over the weekend.
Competing at the 2019 Virginia Class 6 State Championships, Huske stopped the clock at 51.29 in finals to break Beata Nelson’s 2015 national public high school record of 51.62. The sophomore from Yorktown High School won the race ahead of Centreville senior Lexi Cuomo (52.01), and her time would currently rank her seventh among Division I swimmers at this point in the season.
Huske’s time is technically the second time in 2019 that someone dipped below Nelson’s National High School record. Just last week we recognized Claire Curzan for her new 13-14 NAG record in the 100 fly (51.60) that was also under Nelson’s record. However, Curzan swims for Cardinal Gibbons, a private school, and thus did not technically take down Nelson’s public high school record.
Huske also won the 50 free in 21.95, a new Virginia state record and just three-tenths off of Abbey Weitzeil’s national public high school record, and helped Yorktown’s 200 medley relay to a win with a 23.04 fly split.
Congratulations to Victoria Huske on earning ZUMO’s Performance of the Week!
