Zach Apple, Gabby DeLoof Highlight USA Swimming’s World University Games Roster

USA Swimming today announced a 52-member squad that will represent the United States at next summer’s 2019 World University Games (XXX Summer Universiade) in Naples, Italy.

Highlighting the roster are eight swimmers who competed for Team USA at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships: Gabby DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Michigan), Ella Eastin (Irvine, Calif./Stanford), Hannah Moore (Cary, N.C./NC State), Zach Apple (Trenton, Ohio/Indiana), Robert Finke (Clearwater, Fla./Florida), Sean Grieshop (Cedar Park, Texas/California), Austin Katz (Sarasota, Fla./Texas) and Justin Ress (Cary, N.C./NC State).

Apple, DeLoof and Jack Levant (Southlake, Texas/Stanford) also will compete at the 2019 FINA World Championships as relay-only swimmers. Leah SmithShannon Vreeland, Abbey Weitzeil and Reed Malone did the double for USA Swimming in 2015 at the World University Games.

Emily Weiss and Katharine Berkoff also made the team as they will be incoming freshmen in the fall of 2019.

Seventeen different college programs are represented on the roster with Texas leading the way with eight swimmers slated to compete. California and NC State follow with six team members each.

The seven-day swimming competition is scheduled for July 4-10, 2019. Full competition information can be found online at www.universiade2019napoli.it.
