Yu Yiting Wins Third Gold Medal at Chinese Summer Nationals Day 3
The third day has been completed at the Chinese Summer National Championships with another impressive swim by teenager Yu Yiting in the 400 IM.
Men’s 200 Fly
Yu Yingbao claimed gold in a time of 1:58.70, the only swimmer in this event under the 2:00 barrier. Wang Zhou is still the fastest swimmer this season in this event in a time of 1:56.31, ranking 19th in the world.
Women’s 100 Fly
With less than half a second separating the top 3 swimmers, Ye Huiyan was able to touch the wall first in a time of 1:00.70, just ahead of Wu Yulin (1:00.97) who finished second. Zhang Yufei still holds the fastest time this season among Chinese swimmers with her time of 57.69 from Qingdao in March.
Men’s 100 Free
In a close finish where less than half a second separated the top six finishers, Li Yongwei out touched his competitors in a time of 50.37. At the meet in Qingdao back in March, the top Chinese swimmers posted times in the 48 second range.
Women’s 100 Breast
Zhang Xinyu, who competed in the 2016 Olympics for China, earned her spot at the top of the podium finishing in a time of 1:09.96, the only swimmer under 1:10.
Men’s 200 Breast
With his second win of the meet, Li Chao finished in a time of 2:15.31.
Women’s 400 IM
Teenager Yu Yiting, the champion in both the 50 and 200 breast this meet, wins another gold in a time of 4:41.79. It appears that Ye Shiwen’s time from Qingdao is the only Chinese swimmer with a faster time this season.
Men’s 400 Free
Teenager Chen Ende out touches the rest of the heat and finished in a time of 3:56.24.
Women’s 1500 Free
Zhou Chanzhen, who also won the 800 free this meet, cleared the field in a time of 16:47.86.
