Youngstown State Earns Verbal Pledge From Seneca Valley Swim Club’s Abby Perry
NEW COMMIT: Youngstown State University has picked up their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Abby Perry of Cranberry Township, Pa.
She told Swimming World:
“Excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Youngstown State University. I’m so grateful for the support of my family, friends and teammates. Go penguins!!”
Perry, who trains year-round with Seneca Valley Swim Club, most recently competed at the Allegheny Mountain LCMJunior Olympics where she earned four best times and placed sixth in the 200m IM. She also raced four events at Geneva Sectionals in July and took fourth in the 200 free at the Allegheny Mountain SCY Junior Olympics in 2020.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:56.07
- 500 free – 5:13.21
- 200 IM – 2:13.33
Also competing for Seneca Valley Senior High School, Perry raced to 12th in the 200 free at the WPIAL AAA Championships as a junior while taking ninth in that event as well as 10th in the 500 free during her sophomore season.
Perry will make an immediate impact both individually and on relays when she suits up for the Penguins as a member of the Class of 2026. She would’ve ranked second on their roster last season in both the 200/500 free as well as fourth in the 200 IM.

Good luck from a 1970 Seneca grad and former backstroker.
