YMCA National Champ Thomas Roark Gives Verbal Nod to LSU
NEW COMMIT: Boise YMCA’s Thomas Roark has given his verbal commitment to Louisiana State University. The YMCA National Champion is a senior at Bishop Kelly High School.
His best times are:
- 50 Free 20.65
- 100 Free 44.36
- 200 Free 1:37.77
- 100 Fly 49.95
Roark’s best times in all four of those events were swum at YMCA Nationals this spring. He ended the week with a win in the 100 freestyle. He also picked up a bronze in the 50 free. At last fall’s Idaho high school state championship Roark took the sprint free double, winning the 50 free (20.96) and the 100 free (46.24).
Roark wrote on his CollegeSwimming profile,
“The coaching staff was supportive of me through out this entire process. They saw the person I was, not just the times. I fell in love with the campus and what the team stands for, family. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!”
At last year’s SEC Championships LSU’s top 50 freestylers were sophomore Tyler Harper (20.20) and freshman Matthew Klotz (20.21). Roark will have one and two years, respectively, to train with them.
Exciting times are ahead!!!
