Xavier Hires Rathman

CINCINNATI – George Rathman has been named head coach of Xavier men’s and women’s swimming. He replaces Jerry Frentsos, who recently resigned. Rathman, 31, comes to Xavier with 18 years of experience both as an athlete and a coach. A graduate of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Rathman was an Ohio High School state champion, a high school All-American and a Junior National finalist. His coaching experience includes six years as the head swim coach at St. Ursula Academy and three years as an age group swim coach with the Cincinnati Marlins. At St. Ursula, Rathman coached his squads to three consecutive Ohio State Swimming and Diving State Championship titles. While at the helm the of Cincinnati Marlins, he led his teams to four Ohio Age Group Championships.
