Wyoming Cowgirls Round Up Verbal from Highlands Ranch Aquatics’ Brooke Ford
NEW COMMIT: Highlands Ranch, Colo. native Brooke Ford has handed the University of Wyoming their second verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 and will join Kali Franckowiak next year.
Ford does her club swimming with Highlands Ranch Aquatics and most recently recorded a pair of best times at Des Moines Futures this past summer after racing five events at Colorado LCM Seniors. Last winter, she notched two lifetime bests at Colorado SCY Seniors before going on to place 18th in the 500 free at Phoenix Sectionals.
A current senior at Mountain Vista High School, Ford is a four-time Colorado 5A State Championship finalist. She earned bronze in the 500 free and took ninth in the 200 free as a junior after finishing ninth and 17th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am SO excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Wyoming! I instantly fell in love with the team and the beautiful campus. Go Cowgirls!!!”
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 53.88
- 200 free – 1:53.47
- 500 free – 5:00.87
- 1000 free – 10:26.32
- 200 IM – 2:11.35
- 200 breast – 2:26.18
When she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Ford will add her talents to a mid-distance training group that’ll include Katelyn Blattner, Lainee Jones and Kristen Covello. With a year of club swimming still to go, Ford is just on the outskirts of scoring range at the WAC Championships but has consistently made improvements each season.
