World Juniors Finalist Annabel Crush Announces 2021 Verbal to NC State
NEW COMMIT: NC State started their Class of 2025 recruiting strong, and they haven’t slowed down. The Wolfpack recently received a new verbal commitment from Louisville, Ky. native Annabel Crush who will arrive in Raleigh in the fall of 2021 along with twins Caroline and Grace Sheble.
Crush had a stellar summer season where she placed eighth in the 100m back at Phillips 66 Nationals en route to being named to the 2019-20 U.S. National Junior Team. While representing Team USA in Budapest at the FINA World Junior Championships, she placed sixth in the 100m back and eighth in the 50m back.
Crush, who has already achieved the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m back, does her club swimming with Lakeside Swim Team. She recorded four best times at Juniors East last winter where her highest finish was a seventh-place showing in the 100 back before going on to earn gold in that event at the Southern Premier Invitational.
A current junior at Sacred Heart Academy, Crush is already a four-time Kentucky State Championship finalist. She won the 100 back and 200 IM while helping her team secure their seventh-straight state title during her sophomore season. As a freshman, the NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 back and was the 200 IM runner-up.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 52.31
- 200 back – 1:55.50
- 50 free – 22.71
- 100 free – 48.97
- 200 free – 1:47.55
- 200 IM – 1:58.89
- 400 IM – 4:19.73
- 100 fly – 54.21
Crush’s versatility will be extremely beneficial for the Wolfpack when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2021-22 season. She has seen big time drops over the past few seasons, and will become a valuable asset both individually and on relays. She’s just shy of scoring range in the 100 back at NCAAs and would’ve scored in the A-final of that event at the 2019 ACC Championships.
