World Junior Championships: Nikoli Blackman Returns After 50 Free Triumph & 50 Breast CR For Iberle
Nikoli Blackman returned to the pool the morning after being crowned 50 free champion at the World Junior Championships.
Felix Viktor Iberle set a championship record of 26.98 in the 50m breaststroke which was also an Indonesian mark.

Men’s 100m Freestyle
Blackman returned to the pool the morning after being crowned 50 free world junior champion to safely negotiate the heats, clocking 50.08 for sixth.
Ahead of him were Edward Sommerville (49.74), Daniel Diehl (49.82), Southam (49.88) with Williamson and Szymon Misiak – who both stopped the clock in 50.07 – next through.
Women’s 100m Butterfly
Defending champion Mizuki Hirai headed the field in 58.69 a year after winning gold in Lima, Peru.
Sprint champion Leah Shackley of the USA was next through in 58.71 with Lana Pudar – the 200 champion and 50 silver medallist – also through in seventh in 58.85.
Men’s 400m Individual Medley
Tomoyuki Matsushita was DQd in the final of the 200IM where Williamson went on to set a CR en-route to gold.
The Japanese swimmer returned to head the heats in 4:17.31, the only man inside 4:18, ahead of Canada’s Lorne Wiggington (4:18.18) and Drew Hitchcock (4:19.09).
Defending champion Riku Yamaguchi also safely negotiated prelims in 4:19.25.
Women’s 50m Freestyle
Annam Olasewere of the USA headed the field into the semis in 25.11, 0.02 ahead of 100 champion Olivia Wunsch of Australia who stopped the clock at 25.13.
Caroline Larsen was third through in 25.22 with 2022 silver medallist Sara Curtis fourth in 25.33.
Men’s 50m Breaststroke
Felix Viktor Iberle produced a standout swim with a championship record of 26.98 slicing 0.04 off Nicolo Martinenghi‘s 2017 standard of 27.02.
It was a national record for the 18-year-old that at least hints at a place on the podium with Indonesia having never won a World Junior Championships medal.
Jonas Gaur of Denmark was second through 0.54 adrift in 27.52 as he seeks to add to his European Junior title.
Women’s 4×100 Freestyle Relay
Addison Sauickie was the only woman to split sub-55 as the USA booked top spot for Friday’s final.
The 17-year-old went 54.65 on the second leg as the quartet clocked 3:41.58 ahead of Australia (3:42.61) with Canada third through in 3:43.91.
Women’s 1500m Freestyle
Tiana Kritzinger headed the slowest heats in 16:29.97, 11secs ahead of Australian teammate Georgie Roper (16:40.97).
