STOCKHOLM, Sweden, November 12. IT took until the second-to-last stop of the FINA World Cup, but the women finally got into the world-record fun. Sweden's Therese Alshammar clipped the 50 fly global standard to end the Stockholm stop of the meet.
Alshammar ripped off a time of 25.31 to edge the 25.32 set by Felicity Galvez of Australia at the 2008 World Short Course Championships.
Australia's Marieke Guehrer nearly joined her under the record with a second-place time of 25.37, while Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen placed third in 25.41.
