Nicolo Martinenghi booked lane four in the men’s 50 breaststroke final although two-time medallist Joao Gomes Junior was DQd in Budapest.
The Italian will seek to add the one-length crown to his 100br title after going through in 26.56.
He will be joined by Michael Andrew (26.73) and 100 bronze medallist Nic Fink (26.74).
Gomes Jnr though was disqualified for a dolphin kick on the finish with his fellow Brazilian Felipe Franca Silva taking eighth and final spot for the decider at the Duna Arena on Wednesday night.
