Katie Ledecky Posts Top Time As She Seeks Fourth Title In 1500 Free
Katie Ledecky posted the fastest time as she progressed to the final of the 1500m freestyle in her bid to win the title for the fourth time at the World Championships.
Ledecky, who reclaimed the 400 free title on the opening night, stopped the clock at 15:47.02 to book lane four with 2019 champion Simona Quadarella alongside in 15:56.19.
USA teammate Katie Grimes was third through in 15:57.05.
The Olympic champion won gold in the longest race in the pool in 2013, 15 and 17 but was forced to withdraw through illness at the last worlds in Gwangju in 2019.
In her absence, Quadarella won the title ahead of Sarah Kohler of Germany and Wang Jianjiahe of China.
