Working With Denis Cotterell Helped Lauren Boyle Set Personal Best In 1500 Free (SW Radio)

Lauren Boyle had a rocky road to winning the silver medal in the 1500 freestyle at the FINA world championships, and she said she’s relieved to be moving in a positive direction. She’s now working with famed coach Denis Cotterell in Australia, which has helped her produce a lifetime best 15:40.14 in the mile.
“I’m so grateful for his help and support,” she said. “Improving myself is something I want to do more than anything else.”

The 27-year-old New Zealander faced some doubts that she would be a medal contender in the event after the stress of looking for a suitable training location, but is encouraged by tonight’s results as she begins to look ahead to next year’s Olympic Games.
“Being an older swimmer, you don’t really know if you should keep going,” she said. “If I can still improve, which I guess I showed myself today that I can, for me, that makes me really happy and I want to keep going for moments like that.”
