NEW COMMIT: The University of Wisconsin has received its first verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season from Maddie Waggoner of Moorestown, New Jersey.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so humbled and ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! I am very thankful for my family, friends, and coaches for the endless support. ON WISCONSIN”

Waggoner, who does her club swimming with Jersey Wahoos, most recently earned silver in the mile at the Speedo Winter East Championships where she also placed eighth in the 500 free. This past summer, she was the bronze medalist in the 1500m free at the Speedo Summer East Championships after winning the 800m/1500m free combo at Middle Atlantic Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 200 Free – 1:51.49
  • 500 Free – 4:48.99
  • 1000 Free – 9:50.33
  • 1650 Free – 16:08.75
  • 100 Back – 56.30
  • 200 Back – 1:58.66
  • 200 IM – 2:02.76
  • 400 IM – 4:20.32

Currently a junior at Moorestown High School, Waggoner placed third in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 IM as a sophomore at the New Jersey Meet of Champions.

Waggoner is a huge addition for the Badgers, as she would’ve placed fifth in the mile at the 2021 Big Ten Championships. She also would’ve finished 11th in that event at the NCAA Championships a season ago.
