Wisconsin Badgers Secure Verbals from Yigit Aslan, Evan Bock for Class of 2025

NEW COMMITS: The University of Wisconsin, Madison has recently received two new verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Yigit Aslan of Kayseri, Turkey and Chanhassen, Minn. native Evan Bock.

Both swimmers will suit up for the Badgers along with Matthew Segal, Ben Wiegand, and Nico Butera as members of the class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment that I will be continuing my academic and swimming career at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I look forward to working with amazing teammates and coaches. I would like to thank all my friends, family and coaches for supporting me. I can’t wait to be a Badger!”

A talented distance swimmer, Aslan was the runner-up in both the 800m free and 1500m free at the Turkish National Team Selection meet in December. He earned silver in the 800m/1500m free combo at the Turkish SCM Junior Championships last winter and won the 800m free at Turkish Open in August 2019.

His best times include (LCM/SCY conversion):

  • 200m free – 1:53.50/1:40.33
  • 400m free – 3:53.96/4:20.16
  • 800m free – 7:58.83/9:01.11
  • 1500m free – 15:19.00/15:05.21

As a member of the Turkish National Team, Aslan raced three events at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships where he finished 18th in the 800m free. He also finished 11th in the 800m free and 15th in the 1500m free at the LEN European Junior Championships in 2019.

EVAN BOCK

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super pumped to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! Huge thanks goes out to my coaches that have helped me get here especially, Heidi Miler from West Express. Also all the support I have received from my parents. Happy to be a Badger❗️#OnWisconsin ❕”

Primarily a butterflyer, Bock does his club swimming with West Express Swim Team and owns the Junior National cut in the 100 fly. He most recently won both the 200 fly and 200 IM at Minnesota Seniors after earning two best times at Juniors West in December. Last summer, he raced to fourth in the 100m fly at Des Moines Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 48.56
  • 200 fly – 1:49.27
  • 200 IM – 1:51.84
  • 50 free – 20.83

Also competing for Chanhassen High School, Bock is a five-time Minnesota Class 2A State Championship finalist. He won the 100 fly and grabbed silver in the 50 free as a junior while taking ninth and seventh, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
