Winter Juniors Bronze Medalist Chase Mueller Verbals to NC State for 2023
NEW COMMIT: U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier Chase Mueller of Littleton, Colorado, has announced his verbal commitment to NC State University beginning in the fall of 2023.
He will join Hudson Williams, Henry Lee, JR Taylor, Mitchell Ledford, Sam Flack and Will Heck in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2027.
He told Swimming World:
“I am excited to announce my commitment to North Carolina State University! This is the perfect fit for me athletically and academically, and appreciate this opportunity to become a member of the Wolfpack.”
A freestyler and backstroker, Mueller trains year-round with Foothills Swim Team and most recently earned bronze in the 200 back at the Speedo Winter West Championships where he also placed fourth in both the 100 back and 200 free.
This past summer, he was the 200m back runner-up at Austin Sectionals while also collecting a trio of bronze medals. At Olympic Trials Wave I, he finished 12th in the 200m back.
His best times include:
- 100 back – 47.64
- 200 back – 1:42.09
- 100 free – 44.59
- 200 free – 1:35.52
- 200 IM – 1:47.80
Currently a junior at Columbine High School, Mueller competed at the Colorado 5A State Championships during his sophomore season.
Under head coach Braden Holloway, NC State finished second at the 2021 ACC Championships and eighth at the NCAA Championships.
