William & Mary Adds Veronika Owen To Class of 2024

NEW COMMIT: The College of William and Mary has picked up a new verbal commitment for Fall 2024 from in-state standout Veronika Owen of Herndon, Virginia.

She told Swimming World:

“I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to William and Mary! I chose W&M because it is the perfect balance between engaging academics and rigorous athletics that I was looking for. The team is made up of wonderful, kind people, and I cannot wait to continue my swimming career as a part i!  I’d like to thank my parents and all the coaches that made this dream come true!  Go tribe!”
A Junior National qualifier, Owen does her club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and most recently finaled in the 50m free at Richmond Futures this past summer. She placed 14th in the 100 fly at Christiansburg Sectionals back in March after taking ninth in that event at Potomac Valley Seniors. She also won the 100m fly at the 2022 ISCA Summer Senior Blast.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.63
  • 100 free – 54.18
  • 100 fly – 56.45

Currently a senior at South Lakes High School, Owen flew to 10th in the 100 fly at the Virginia Class 6 State Championships last season. She finished eighth in that event during her senior season.

A Scholastic All-American, she was part of the 4×50 free relay team that broke her school record at the 2023 state meet.
