Will Licon Selected As Texas Nominee For Big 12 Male Athlete Of The Year
Recent University of Texas graduate Will Licon has been selected as his alma mater’s nominee for the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year. Licon announced his selection with an Instagram post that also was featured on the Texas team’s Instagram page.

Licon has been an 11-time NCAA Champion, including winning all five of his events at the 2017 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships that helped Texas to their third straight NCAA team title. At that meet Licon broke his own NCAA and American record in the 200 breast, becoming the first man under 1:48 when he touched in 1:47.91.
He most recently was selected for the United States roster for the World University Games in the 200 breast and 200 IM following his performance at 2017 U.S. Nationals.
Voting for the Big 12 Athlete of the Year will begin on July 23, when fans will have until July 25 to vote for the female and male nominees. You can see the highlighted athletes and vote for the nominees on the Big 12 Conference website.
