The Carmel girls high school team collected their fifth straight title in 2017 and their eighth title in a nine year span. The legendary Carmel team, which has won the Indiana Girls High School State Championships for the past # years, also collected the Swimming World National Team Champions title in 1995, 1996 and 1998.

Head coach Chris Plumb commented last year, saying,

The feeling never gets old — that’s for sure. The program is working from top to bottom. The Carmel Swim Club is continually producing top athletes, and the senior group and the high school are able to take those athletes and make them into nationals champions.

2017 Male Team Winner – St. Xavier

St. Xavier boys high school team collected their fourth Swimming World High School National Champion title in 2017, adding to their titles from 1973, 1992 and 2001.

The boys of St. Xavier doubled-down on the depth of talent in their group to have all 11 seniors on the team score at the state meet. Coach Tim Beerman attributed his team’s remarkable tradition of success to Xavier’s long-intact, team-first philosophy.

It’s living out the philosophy established over the past 30 years. If there’s anything unique about the team this season, it was the buy-in the swimmers had from Day 1. They came in knowing they could do something pretty incredible. And they were willing to do the work and put in the time.
