What Do Swimmers Like Best For Their Morning Practices? See the Answers Here!
Earlier this week, Swimming World introduced a new series, The Lifestyle of a Swimmer. The series, which will be handled by Pat Hallahan, will focus on areas of the sport that are relatable to all swimmers: Practice habits; Emotions; Clothing; Equipment; Etc.
The series kicked off by discussing the bond developed by swimmers through their experiences with morning practice. A survey was also conducted to accompany the feature, with the questions targeting swimmers’ preferences for their pre-workout and post-workout food and drinks. Here is a look at the survey’s results.
What Is Your Favorite Pre-Workout Drink?
The first question posed offered an overwhelming preference for H20. Half of the responses favored water for their preference before hopping in the pool for their morning workout. An electrolyte drink, such as Gatorade, was the next choice.

What Is Your Favorite Pre-Workout Snack?
Unlike the first question, it was a tight battle for the preferred pre-practice snack. Protein bars clipped bananas for the top spot, with the third slot occupied by a surprise: No snack at all.
What Is Your Favorite Post-Workout Drink?
Katie Ledecky has touted her preference for chocolate milk after a workout, and her influence is clear! Chocolate milk enjoyed a solid victory in the survey, with water checking in as the second pick.
What Is Your Favorite Post-Workout Meal?
What do swimmers turn to for their after-workout meal? Eggs was the prevailing choice, followed by pancakes and waffles. Sounds like swimmers are hitting the local diner after morning practice.
I think these swimmers need to work with @ericabeine at BeineWellnessBuilding.net and get some nutrition guidance!!
