MACOMB – Head coach Greg Naumann announced the signing of two more newcomers for the 2015-16 season on Monday (May 11). Naumann’s signing class has now reached seven, heading into next season.

Quetzal Gallagher – Pueblo, Colorado

Gallagher joins the Leathernecks after collecting five first-place finishes his senior year. A the 2015 Viking Invitational, Gallagher recorded a score of 479.95 on the one-meter and later posted a 447.25 at the Red Wave Invitational.

Coach Santeiu – I am looking forward to having Quetzal on campus next year. He looks to be an intelligent and coachable diver that will be able to make big improvements as a freshman once introduced to more strength training and a higher level of diving instruction.

Cameron Van de Velde – Cumming, Georgia

Van de Velde is coming off of a 26th place finish at the American Short Course Championships with a time of 50.24 seconds in the 100 butterfly. In the 200 butterfly, Cameron swam a 1:51.75. At the Georgia State Championships, he touched the wall in 4:45.40 in the 500 freestyle.

Coach Naumann: Cameron is going to make a big impact on WIU swimming next year. He has the ability to place in the top 8 for the 100 and 200 butterfly. This will make practice pretty exciting given that he can push Chris Neaveill and the rest of our fly group as a freshman. He is also another guy with lots of versatility, so it will be interesting to see what he swims next year outside of butterfly. Cameron definitely has an opportunity to see his name on our record board by the time he graduates.
