ATLANTA – Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell challenged the American record in the women’s 100-yard fly last night at the ACC Championships in Atlanta.
The University of Louisville managed to capture the incredible swim for everyone to watch.
Worrell moved closer to Natalie Coughlin’s American record 50.01, but couldn’t advance in the rankings as she clocked a sterling 50.17. She split the swim 23.43, 26.74, going out much faster than her morning swim of 23.68, 26.70.
Previously, Worrell had been ninth all time in the event with a 50.91 from the 2014 U.S. Winter Nationals.
The big question left is whether she can dip under 50-point next month at the NCAA Championships.
