Washington State Sets Pool Records, Defeats Utah in Pac-12 Showdown

The Washington State women’s swimming and diving team defeated Uta 145-117 in a Pac-12 showdown on Friday night.

Washington State opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Anna Rauchholz, Emily Lundgren, Sam Krew and Selena Duran took first in 1:41.04.

Rauchholz won the 100 backstroke in 53.90. Lundgren won the 100 breaststroke in a “B” cut time of 1:00.58 and the 200 breaststroke in a B cut and pool record time of 2:10.63.

The previous pool record was 2:18.87.

Washington State’s Dori Hathazi earned the win in the 200 freestyle, getting to the wall in 1:48.51. She also won the 200 butterfly in 1:59.72.

Emma Wright won the 100 freestyle in 50.20.

Washington State’s Skylar Brgoch, Wright, Angela Di Palo and Duran won the 400 free relay in 4:30.46, also breaking the pool record.

Utah’s Erin Palmer won the 50 freestyle in 23.32, just two hundredths of a second ahead of teammate Reagan Cathcart, who finished in 23.34.

The Utes went 1-2 in the 200 backstroke with B cuts from Summer Stanfield (1:56.69) and Norah Hay (1:56.99). Stanfield won the 200 IM in 2:01.34, breaking the pool record previously at 2:02.13.

Taylor Kabacy won the 1000 freestyle in 9:58.28. She also claimed victory in the 500 free in 4:53.94. Kim Lanaghen won the 100 butterfly in 55.41.

But it was not enough to catch Washington State.
