Vols Pick Up Verbal Commitment From Distance Ace Mac Clark

NEW COMMIT: The University of Tennessee has received a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from U.S. Open qualifier Mac Clark of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He will join Mike McCarthy and Jake McCoy in Knoxville as a member of the Vols’ Class of 2029.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Tennessee. I’d like to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for helping me reach this point. I also want to give a special thanks to all of the coaches at Tennessee for extending me the opportunity to be a Vol. Can’t wait to get to Rocky Top! Go Vols!”

Clark does his club swimming with Team Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics and won the 400m free, 800m free, 1500m free and 400m IM at the ISCA International Senior Cup back in March. He raced to 11th in the mile at Juniors East last winter after racing three events at the Toyota U.S. Open.

Clark also holds several Allegheny Mountain LSC records. One of those is the boys’ 15-16 1000 free, which used to be the oldest short course yards record for the LSC by more than a decade before he broke it in 2023.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:25.26
  • 1000 free – 9:07.23
  • 1650 free – 15:18.12
  • 400 IM – 3:58.29

A rising senior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, Clark placed third in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free at the 2024 Pennsylvania 3A State Championship. He finished sixth and 15th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
