Vladimir Morozov Lowers 100 IM SC World Record At 2016 FINA World Cup Berlin
Four days after sliding past the SC World Record in the men’s 100 IM at the 2016 FINA/airweave World Cup Series in Paris-Chartres, Vladimir Morozov has once again lowered the World Record.
When Morozov broke the record four days ago he upset Markus Diebler’s 50.66 with a final time of 50.60. Today, however, Morozov blasted past his own record with a sizzling 50.30 to claim gold and another World Record prize.
Comparing Splits:
Diebler (2014, Doha): 23.32, 27.34– 50.66
Morozov (2016, Paris): 23.10, 27.50– 50.60
Morozov (2016, Berlin): 22.77, 27.53– 50.30
As seen in the splits Morozov is using a strong front half of his 100 IM to launch him forward into World Record territory with each race. Once the World Record is recognized by FINA Morozov can look for an additional $10,000 prize for his World Record swim.
With this swim Morozov moves leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in FINA’s points list, setting himself up nicely to not only win the first cluster but also to potentially win the 2016 FINA/airweave World Cup series title.
Morozov (2016, Berlin): 22.17, 27.53– 50.30
Those splits don’t add up. Would equal 49.7.
Whoops, that’s supposed to read 22.77. Good catch!
