Virginia’s Zurowski and Bosevska Named ACC Swimmers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C., Feb. 10. UNIVERSITY of Virginia fourth-years Dan Zurowski (Woodbridge, Va./Bishop Ireton) and Mirjana Bosevska (Skopje, Macedonia/
Trinity Prep) have been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week, respectively, it was announced today.
Both swimmers helped lead the Cavaliers to victories over Maryland Saturday at the UVa Aquatic and Fitness Center in their final collegiate dual meets.
Zurowski, the 2001 ACC champion in the 200 butterfly, posted season-best times in winning the 200 freestyle and 200 fly in helping lead the Cavaliers to a 186-57 victory over Maryland. He won the 200 free with a time of 1:40.64. In the 200 fly, he touched in 1:48.23, the third fastest time in the ACC this season. Zurowski also swam on the Cavaliers' second-place 400 free relay (3:06.06).
Bosevska, an 11-time All-American was named the ACC's Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week for the second time in 2002-2003. She led the 13th-ranked Cavaliers to a 151-92 victory over 15th-ranked Maryland by winning a pair of events. Bosevska lowered her ACC-best time in the 200 individual medley to 2:01.22. She also won the 500 freestyle in 4:48.97, nearly five seconds faster than her previous season-best time. She is now ranked fourth in the ACC in the 500 free.
The Virginia women's swimming and diving team returns to action February 20-22 at the 2003 ACC Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Cavalier men are back in action February 27-March 1 at the ACC Championships in Chapel Hill.
