Virginia Tech Hokies Receive In-State Verbal From Will Koeppen
NEW COMMIT: McLean, Va. native Will Koeppen will make the move to Blacksburg in the fall of 2019 with his recent verbal commitment to Virginia Tech.
Koeppen does his club swimming with Machine Aquatics and has his Winter Juniors cut in the 200 back. He finished his long course season at the NCSA Summer Championships where he recorded five lifetime bests. He also competed at NCSA Junior Nationals in March and swam best times in both backstroke events. Also representing Langley High School, Koeppen placed fifth in the 50 free (21.75) and seventh in the 100 back (51.51) at the VHSL 6A State Championships as a junior.
He told Swimming World:
“I am super stoked to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Virginia Tech! I am so excited to swim under Coach Sergio Miro Lopez and the rest of the amazing Hokie coaching staff next year. Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for helping and supporting me along the way #GoHokies”
His best times include:
- 100 back – 51.41
- 200 back – 1:52.15
- 50 free – 21.58
- 100 free – 47.25
- 200 free – 1:45.17
Koeppen will join a talented Hokie backstroke group when he arrives in Blacksburg for the 2019-20 season that includes Sam Tornqvist, Alex McMurry and Connor Doyle. Virginia Tech finished sixth at the 2018 ACC Championships.
He will be joining AJ Pouch first 2019 Hokie Male commit !!
