Virginia Tech Hokies Add Verbal From Amanda Aidar

NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Amanda Aidar of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She will join Delaney Bookstein as a member of the Hokies’ Class of 2028.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my athletic and academic careers at Virginia Tech!! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for their endless support throughout my journey. I cannot wait to join such an amazing program! Go Hokies!!”

Aidar does her club swimming with Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics (PEAQ) and finaled in three events at Christiansburg Sectionals back in March where her highest finish was a 10th-place showing in the 200 IM. She most recently competed at the Holtrey Summer Classic, earning three lifetime bests.

Her best times include:

  • 50m fly -28.96
  • 50 fly – 25.06 (relay)
  • 100 fly – 56.58
  • 200 IM – 2:08.08
  • 200 free – 1:55.79
  • 100 free – 53.53
  • 200 fly – 2:08.98
  • 50 free – 23.68 (relay)
Currently a junior at Upper Saint Clair High School, Aidar flew to 11th place in the 100 fly at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships this past season. She took sixth in that event, as well as fourth in the 200 IM, at the WPIAL District 7 Championships.
