The University of Alabama has added another member to the Class of 2021. Snow Swimming’s Michael Burris has given his verbal commitment to the Tide.
Burris shared,
“I chose Alabama because I felt it was the best fit both academically and athletically. I connected with the team, coaches, and school very well. Coach Leonhart, Pursley, and Skinner have done an excellent job of rebuilding the team and I want to be part of the rising tide. Roll Tide!”
His best times are:
- 50 Breast 26.27
- 100 Breast 56.00
- 200 Breast 2:02.49
- 200 IM 1:53.08
Representing Heritage High School, Burris is the defending Virginia 4A State Champion in the 100 breaststroke (56.64) and 200 IM (1:53.60). Both of those times were solid improvements from the 2014-2015 season when he finished runner up in both events, stopping the clock in 58.86 and 1:54.23 respectively.
Juniors Anton McKee and Pavel Romanov led the Tide’s breaststroke efforts at the 2016 SEC Championships. Those two will have graduated by Burris’ arrival in Tuscaloosa next fall.
