Virginia State Champ Emerson Callis Verbally Commits To NC State For 2026-27
NEW COMMIT: NC State University has been handed another impressive verbal commitment for Fall 2026, this time from Olympic Trials qualifier Emerson Callis of Richmond, Virginia.
She will join Taylor Schwenk in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2030.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at North Carolina State University!! I want to thank my Quest coaches and teammates, family, and friends for supporting me along this journey! Special thanks to all the staff at NC State for giving me this opportunity! GO PACK!”
A versatile swimmer, Callis trains year-round with Quest Swimming and capped off her summer by winning the 100m fly, 200m IM and 400m IM at Richmond Futures. That was after she earned six top-5 finishes at Virginia Long Course Seniors. She also raced the 200m fly at Olympic Trials.
Last winter, Callis won the B-final of the 400 IM at Juniors East. She also won all seven of her events at Virginia Seniors, also taking gold in the 400m free, 50m fly, 100m fly, 200m fly, 200m IM and 400m IM at the ISCA International Senior Cup.

Currently a junior at Monacan High School, Callis won the 200 IM and 500 free at the 2024 Virginia Class 4 State Championships. She earned gold in the 100 fly and silver in the 200 IM at the state meet as a freshman in 2023.
Her mother swam at New Hampshire.
NC State finished fourth at the 2024 ACC Championships and placed ninth at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
