NEW COMMIT: Devon, Penn. native and high school junior Brian Brennan has recently declared his verbal intention to swim for the University Virginia as a member of the class of 2024.

Brennan does his club swimming with the Suburban Seahawks Club and is a six-time Winter Juniors (or faster) qualifier. He won the 50 free and 100 free at the NCAP Tom Dolan Invite last month where he also earned a runner-up finish in the 200 free. The two-time NISCA All-American achieved four lifetime bests at NCSAs this past summer where he earned gold in the 50m free. Also competing for The Haverford School, Brennan won the 100 free and took third in the 50 free at the Eastern Interscholastic Championships during his sophomore season.

He told Swimming World:

“I chose UVA because of the outstanding academics and athletics.  The campus, coaches and team create an awesome environment that felt like home.  Thanks to my family, coaches and teammates for all the encouragement and support.  Go HOOS! #levelup #classof2020”

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.11
  • 100 free – 44.51
  • 200 free – 1:38.42
  • 100 back – 50.01
  • 100 fly – 49.89
  • 200 IM – 1:49.38

When he suits up for the Cavaliers at the start of the 2020-21 season, Brennan will add his talents to a freestyle group that will include Lewis BurrasCooper Wozencraft and Samuel Schilling. Although he is currently just shy of scoring range at the ACC Championships, he still has 1.5 years of club swimming still to go and has made improvements each season.
