Two Virginia swimming and diving seniors were honored with ACC weekly awards, the conference announced on Tuesday. Courtney Bartholomew was named the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week and Carl Buergler was awarded with the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week for their efforts against Notre Dame, their final home meet representing the Cavaliers.
Bartholomew won the 200 IM (1:59.35), the 100 back (53.07), and the 200 back (1:55.21). She was also a member of four first-place relays, in which her 200 free relay team broke the pool record. This is her sixth weekly honor in her career.
Buergler won both the 1m and 3m diving events against the Fighting Irish. He won the 1m with a score of 324.45 and posted a season-best in the 3m (376.65). This is his first weekly award of his career.
North Carolina sophomore Elissa Dawson was named the ACC Female Diver of the Week, her fourth of the season. She won both the 1m (321.80) and the 3m (354.15) as the Tar Heels beat Navy.
Grigory Tarasevich was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week for helping Louisville win over Florida State. The junior won both the 100 back (48.02) and 200 back (1:45.01), and was also part of two first-place and two second-place relay teams.
