Virginia 4A Record Holder Abby Larson Chooses Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech continues to roll along in recruiting for the Class of 2022. Abby Larson gave her verbal commitment to become the Hokie’s fourth verbal commitment for the women’s team. Larson is an in-state sprint talent swimming for Williamsburg’s 757 Swim.
Larson told Swimming World,
“I chose Virginia Tech to be my home because I fell in love with it from the beginning. When I was younger I went to a club meet in Blacksburg and the moment we left I told my parents I wanted to swim at Virginia Tech, I am proud to say that dream has come true. I fell in love with all things Virginia Tech from the amazing coaching staff, facilities, and team. They have supported me through the entire recruiting process and made my decision so easy. The team atmosphere is great and I’m excited to get to know more of my future teammates. The school is a great fit academically and I know I will have phenomenal support. I can’t wait to see what my four years as a Hokie have in store. Go Hokies!!”
Larson is primarily a sprint freestyler. Her best times are:
- 50 Free 22.88
- 100 Free 50.36
- 200 Free 1:51.17
- 100 Fly 56.82
Representing Jamestown High School, Larson has had an excellent high school career. She is a three time 4A state champion in the 50 freestyle as well as the state record holder. She is also a two time champion and the record holder in the 100 freestyle. This year she helped lead the school to the state title.
She’ll join Alex Slayton, Loulou Vos and Julia Bruneau as new Hokies in the fall of 2018. Larson’s club and high school teammate Joelle Vereb will begin her career as a Hokie this fall.
Thanks for the info-. Good for Abby.
