Emily Zimmermann verbally commits to Villanova.
NEW COMMIT: Villanova University has officially begun their class of 2025 recruiting after receiving a verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Emily Zimmermann of Spring Lake, N.J.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I chose Villanova for its outstanding academics and swim program. When you feel at home over a Zoom Official Visit you have to believe it’s a great fit! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates for the endless support throughout the years. I couldn’t be more excited for the next four years… #NovaNation! #Gocats!!!”
A talented breaststroker, Zimmermann does her club swimming with the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County and earned 100% best times at the Holiday Classic in December while racing three events at YMCA Nationals in April 2019.
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:03.93
- 200 breast – 2:21.72
- 200 IM – 2:07.04
- 50 free – 24.53
- 100 free – 52.98
Last summer, she finaled in the 50m/100m/200m breast, as well as the 200m IM, at YMCA LCM Nationals. Zimmermann is also a rising senior at Ranney Prep School in Tinton Falls, N.J.
Zimmermann will make an immediate impact for Villanova. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 100/200 breast as well as the B-final of the 200 IM at the 2020 Big East Championships where the Wildcats clinched their seventh-straight conference crown.
