VIDEO: Michael Phelps on the Red Carpet at the ESPYs
Michael Phelps won two ESPY awards Wednesday night, for Best Male U.S. Olympic Athlete and Best Record-Breaking Performance. Before the awards show in Los Angeles, he spoke to ESPN’s Hannah Storm on the red carpet.
Phelps commented on how excited he was to have finished his swimming career at the Rio Olympics exactly how he wanted to. He also reflected on his new life with wife Nicole (also in the video) and one-year-old son Boomer, and he reiterated that he has no plans to again come out of retirement.
“No, I’m good,” Phelps said. “I don’t want it anymore. I’ve been to one or two meets, and I don’t miss it.”
Phelps also previewed his upcoming appearance on the show “Shark Week,” and he explained that he got to swim with seven different sharks while filming. He would not reveal any further details.
