Video Interview: Gentle Giant Reece Whitley Chats About Two National Age Group Marks at Tom Dolan
COLLEGE PARK, Maryland, December 16. THIS weekend, Penn Charter’s Reece Whitley set a pair of 13-14 U.S. National Age Group records at the Speedo Tom Dolan Invitational in breaststroke competition. He left the meet with one in hand after Michael Andrew reclaimed the 100-yard breaststroke a few minutes later at the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals.
SwimmingWorld.TV had a chance to talk to Whitley following his second national age group mark.
Whitley took down Curtis Ogren’s 13-14 U.S. National Age Group record in the 200-yard breast from 2010.
Whitley, who held the 100-yard breaststroke record shortly last night with a 55.62 before Michael Andrew reclaimed the record with a 55.43 just minutes later at the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals, took down another 13-14 mark the following night in Maryland.
Whitley, who swims for Penn Charter, raced his way to a 2:00.14 in the boys 13-14 200-yard breaststroke finale, cutting a full second off Ogren’s swift 2:01.17 from 2010.
