After falling behind early on, Connor Jaeger had a strong back half to touch the wall first in the men’s 400 free to qualify for his second Olympic Games.
His final time of 3:43.79 was just shy of Larsen Jensen’s U.S. Open record of 3:43.53 set back in 2008.
In 2012, Jaeger made his Olympic berth in the 1500 where he went on to finish sixth in London. He trains with Club Wolverine under head coach Mike Bottom.
Jaeger talked to the media after his race, discussing how he thought he was out of the race at the halfway mark.
