(Video Interview) Bowman: Kalisz’s Time “Isn’t Representative of What He Can Do”
Editorial Coverage provided by
Chase Kalisz claimed his Olympic berth after finishing first in the men’s 400 IM. He touched the wall in 4:09.54, just off his personal best time of 4:09.22. Coach Bob Bowman knows Kalisz can go a lot faster, saying he swam in a way to just win the race.
Kalisz redshirted last year from the University of Georgia and thanked his family, friends, and coaches for their support. Bowman and Kalisz joked about how hard Michael Phelps is on him, but says he loves training with him.
Bowman and Kalisz discussed how making the Olympic team has always been the goal and knows that “there’s a lot more in the tank.” The two also talked about how he has progressed since 2012, tonight’s expectations, and his relationship with Phelps.
