Alexei Sancov’s stellar summer has already included a World Junior Record in the men’s 200 free, swimming a time of 1:47.00 at the European Junior Championships (while representing Moldova), and then he won the 100 free and tied for first in the 100 fly at Speedo Junior Nationals in East Meadow, N.Y.
In an interview with Swimming World, Sancov shared his thoughts on breaking the World Junior Record and on what it’s been like adjusting to life in the United States over the past year, including learning his fourth language (English). He also explained why he felt comfortable committing early to swim for the USC Trojans.
