(VIDEO INTERVIEW) Akram Mahmoud Almost Missed His 800 Free in Knoxville
Gamecock Elite’s Akram Mahmoud talked to the media on Wednesday night at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville, Tennessee as he placed sixth in the 800 free. He finished with an 8:16.40 and said he could have been around an 8:05 if he properly prepared for the race.
Mahmoud was unaware that the fastest seeded heats would be swum first so he had to quickly put on his racing suit just five minutes before he was supposed to swim and did not get to fully warm up before the race.
Mahmoud talked about how he wasn’t fully prepared for the race but made adjustments along the way. He also talked about the rest of his meet schedule as well as the differences between this year and last year in terms of training with the South Carolina team. Mahmoud will be resting for either the Des Moines Pro Swim Series or the Richmond Pro Series to try and put up qualifying times for the 2019 World Championships.
