David Nolan beat his goal of 1:39.4 in the 200 individual medley tonight at the men’s NCAA championships, a time he arbitrarily created in his head after posting a 1:40.07 at the Pac 12 championships. In his interview with media after breaking the American record, he talks about the details he fixed in tonight’s race to mark the difference in breaking the 1:40 barrier, and how he felt before stepping on the blocks before the race.
I remember when Jerry Heidenreich was the first guy under 1:40 in the 200 free.
I saw him at PA states in ’11 and thought that was amazing!!
