UVA Snags Verbal Commit From Virginia HS Record Holder Sean Conway
NEW COMMIT: After their first season in Charlottesville, Todd DeSorbo and company are rolling with the momentum they’ve created. The Cavaliers have received a verbal commitment from in-state talent Sean Conway.
Conway is finishing up his junior year at Loudoun Valley High School. With a year remaining, Conway has already had a successful high school campaign, earning five Virginia 4A state titles, and showcasing his versatility. In his freshman year Conway won the 500 freestyle. Sophomore year he repeated in the 500 freestyle, but replaced his fourth place 100 backstroke with a 200 IM gold medal. This past year Conway repeated in the 200 IM, and did it in record fashion. He also won the 100 freestyle, setting a new state record in the process.
He does his club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club. His best times include:
- 200 IM 1:46.95
- 400 IM 3:49.60
- 200 Back 1:43.54
- 100 Back 49.30
- 50 Back 23.12
- 500 Free 4:28.92
- 200 Free 1:37.93
- 100 Free 44.54
Conway shared,
“I chose Virginia because of their top-notch academics, and unrivaled enthusiasm the Coaching Staff brings to the pool deck. Can’t wait to be part of such an awesome team, Go Hoos!”
With a little over a year to go in his high school career, Conway already has times that would have scored at ACCs this year (in the 400 IM B final and 200 backstroke C final).
Nice 🙂
