UVA Lands Another Top Recruit For 2026 In Backstroker Roos Rottink
NEW COMMIT: One of the top recruits in her class, Olympic Trials qualifier Roos Rottink of Germantown, Tennessee, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Virginia for Fall 2026. She currently has the second fastest 200 back time in this class.
She will join Alyssa Sagle in Charlottesville as a member of the Cavaliers’ Class of 2030.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so excited to finally announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Virginia! I would also like to give a big thanks to all of the @uvaswimdive coaches and staff for giving me the amazing opportunity! GO HOOS”
Rottink does her club swimming with Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club. She capped off her summer long course season with four gold medals at Southeastern LCM Championships after racing both the 100m and 200m back at Olympic Trials.
She finished sixth in the 100 back and seventh in the 200 back at Juniors East last December. She also won both backstroke events, as well as the 50 free, at Southeastern SCY Championships.
Her best times include:
- 100 back – 53.21
- 200 back – 1:55.26
- 100 fly – 53.96
- 200 fly – 2:00.12
- 50 free – 23.29
- 100 free – 50.13
- 200 free – 1:48.10
- 200 IM – 2:03.63
Currently a junior at Houston High School, Rottink won the 100 fly at the 2024 TISCA State Championships. She placed first in the 100 back and second in the 200 IM at the state meet as a freshman in 2023.
Virginia is the four-time defending national champion.
